A formal letter isn't required, but it is recommended if your child is enrolled in school. Send it to school principal or superintendent.

No specific statutory withdrawal procedure exists. Standard practice is a written letter stating the child is being withdrawn for home instruction. District may not condition withdrawal on approval of a homeschool plan, curriculum review, or any other prerequisite. If child was never enrolled in public school, no withdrawal is necessary.
